Vascular Diagnostic Testing

In an effort to provide superior care, the Metropolitan Cardiovascular Institute understands that identifying vascular health issues is the first step in improving the quality of life for our patients. 

In order to do so, diagnostic testing is an integral and necessary step before treatment.

If you are experiencing leg pain (dull ache to throbbing sensation), numbness or tingling in your legs, swelling in your legs, foot pain, shortness of breath, or chest pain, you should immediately schedule an appointment with our practice in order to get a correct diagnosis. Identifying the condition is essential to informing an effective treatment plan.

Our diagnostic tests used to assess blockages include the following:

· An ultrasound – provides images of blood movement through arteries.

· An angiogram – requires an injection of a dye into the bloodstream that will be visible on 

x-rays.

· A computer tomography angiography (CTA) – requires an injection of a dye that creates detailed imaging of blood vessels and related organs and muscles on x-rays.

· A magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) – requires an injection of a dye and uses radio waves and a computer to evaluate blood vessels (without radiation).
